Top 4 Holiday & Winter Destinations for 2021

Grab your luggage and leave the baggage behind! The holidays are right around the corner which means it’s also time for planning your holiday vacation! All you have to do is decide the destination and we will take care of the rest.

Keep reading to find out my top 4 holiday vacation destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean for your winter vacation. Let us know in the comments YOUR favorite vacation spot, especially if it's not already on this list.

1. Turks & Caicos

Imagine crystal clear, turquoise blue, calm waters against a backdrop of sugar white sand. If a place like this is on your bucket list (like it is mine), then look no further than the drop dead stunning beaches of Turks and Caicos.

Just 575 miles south of Miami lies the Atlantic archipelago of Turks and Caicos. While many Caribbean islands have a wet season, Turks and Caicos has one of the lowest annual rainfall averages in the region.

If luxury travel is high on your list, then Turks and Caicos is the place to be. Featuring high end family friendly and adult only all inclusive resorts, luxury rental villas, and quaint boutique resorts, Turks and Caicos thrives on its tourism industry.

You won't be bored during a Turks and Caicos trip with all kinds of excursions and activities for all ages to partake in. Water sports like kayaking, paddle boarding, kiteboarding and in abundance with landscapes like mangrove channels and shallow lagoons to explore.

Try your hand at scuba diving or snorkeling in one of the finest barrier reefs in the Atlantic and try to spot a sea turtle, stingray, shark, or conch shell.

Prefer to stay on land? Golf, natural and historical attractions, and sightseeing are waiting for you.

2. Riviera Maya, Mexico

What do you picture on a Mexican vacation? Tacos, sombreros, and mariachi bands? If this is your idea of a visit to the Mayan Riviera, you couldn't be further from the truth. Yes those things may be there, but there is so much more to Mexico than that.

Instead try picturing a heritage with deep Mayan roots, landscapes full of archaeological ruins, cavernous underground cenotes, and warm, caring people. This is a true Mexican vacation, and can even be found in the strong tourism areas of the Riviera Maya. Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula stretches over 100 miles encompassing the towns of Cancun, Puerto Morales, Playa del Carmen, Akumal, and Tulum. With white sand beaches and turquoise blue water, there is no shortage of water sports in Mexico's Riviera Maya. Adventure seekers can scuba dive in cenotes, fly on zip lines, or ATV through the jungle. Several eco parks offer and all-in-one excursion with many of the same activities in one place. And history buffs fall in love with ancient Mayan ruins like the beachside port of Tulum, massive and well preserved, Chichen Itza, or jungle set Coba, where you can still climb stone stairs once climbed by the Mayan people.

3. Jamaica

What better holiday vacation then in Jamaica's sandy, white beaches, beautiful blue skies, and turquoise waters? In Jamaica you have three main amazing resort areas to visit: Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios (though there are a few more!). Jamaica is thought to be the birthplace of reggae (one of my favorite music styles) and the heart of the Caribbean. Where else can you find sugar cane plantations and delicious home-grown coffee set among the rugged Blue Mountains full of dreamy waterfalls, some you can even climb. The simplicity of staying in Montego Bay means flying into the airport and driving just a few minutes to your resort. With so many family friendly and adult only options to choose from, Montego Bay is the perfect area for a quick stay in Jamaica. A few hours to the west lies Negril, famous for it's Seven Mile Beach AND it's high cliffs you can dive from (Rick's Cafe, I'm talking about you). This laid-back region gives you several different areas to choose from and typically attracts a slightly younger crowd.

To the east of Montego Bay is Ocho Rios, home of Dunn's River Falls, a 600-foot staggered waterfall you can climb, even with small children. Luxury resorts attract destination weddings and honeymooners, while the popular cruise port entertains ships on their port of call. If you have time, stop by the Bob Marley Museum and learn all about the infamous musician born nd raised in Jamaica.

4. Dominican Republic

Sandy beaches with palm trees swaying in the breeze against crystal-clear water by day, merengue dancing and dark rum cocktails by night. But there's more to the Dominican Republic, or the DR as it's affectionately known, than that. The DR is one of the most geographically diverse Caribbean islands offering opportunities for ecotourism and adventure for all ages. Explore the Dominican's tropical rainforests, deserts, and mangrove swamps with options for mountain biking, scaling a 150m waterfall, windsurfing the best waves in the hemisphere, or climbing to the top of a 3000m mountain. You have a choice of calm, baby friendly beaches in La Romana or waves built for boogie boarding and bodysurfing along the Punta Cana coast in the beaches of Bavaro Beach, Playa Macao, and Uvero Alto. Take part in the DR's rich culture with the rhythms of it's national forms of music of merengue and bachata or check out one of the vibrant fiestas patronales. These music-driven street parties are a celebration in the name of a patron saint and held in every town across the country.
